Motorsport.com and Emerson Fittipaldi Announce 2016 MAXSpeed Entertainment Karting Series Contingency and Driver of the Year Programs
MIAMI – (Jan. 14, 2015) – Motorsport.com today announced plans for two incentive-based driver contingency programs in support of its content partnership with 2016 MAXSpeed Entertainment karting events.
Motorsport.com will host both the “Motorsport.com MAXSpeed Award” and “Motorsport.com Emerson Fittipaldi Driver of the Year Award” in recognition of individual performances throughout the race season.
“Karting is the base; the best road to Formula 1, NASCAR, etc. It is the way all great champions start, and it’s important to me to see the sport of karting continue to grow,” said two-time Formula 1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi. “Having Motorsport.com and MAXSpeed come together seems like a natural fit to help achieve that goal. To see young drivers follow their dreams is a pleasure, and I am proud to be associated with, and have my name on the Driver of the Year Award.”
The 2016 incentive program includes:
- “Motorsport.com MAXSpeed Award” to recognize the fastest lap in each series class in the final round at its national events. Winners to receive a cash bonus.
- “Motorsport.com Emerson Fittipaldi Driver of the Year Award” to honor the 2016 MAXSpeed Entertainment driver who has impressed throughout the season. An elite panel of karting experts will choose the winner based upon the overall performances in all seven karting series classes during the 10-race MAXSpeed Entertainment karting events.
- DOY award winner to receive one-off Emerson Fittipaldi custom art piece and $3,700 Rotax Engine package.
“Motorsport.com is thrilled to offer the “Motorsport.com MAXSpeed Award” and “Motorsport.com Emerson Fittipaldi ‘Driver of the Year’ Award’ for the upcoming 2016 MAXSpeed Entertainment promoted karting events,” said Scott Sebastian, vice president of Public Relations and Marketing, Motorsport.com.
“We are humbled that Emerson Fittipaldi has chosen to partner with Motorsport.com and offered his namesake in recognizing on-track success and year-long racing achievements for the world’s largest karting race promotional company in the world.”
